WOODBOTTOM EARLY 1900's Today Woodbottom tends to be thought of only as the home to Hopton Mills Cricket Club, but in the first part of the last century it was as you see a small hamlet in its
own right. The cottages were owned by the Wheatley family, owners of the neighboring Hopton Mills and were mainly occupied by their employees. The cricket club was also provided by the Wheatley family. Many
generations of local boys and men have played for the Hopton Mill teams over the last century or so.
