Hi, I inherited a huge amount of local photograp;hic negatives when the former freelance photographer Leslie Overend died in 1989. I recently discovered some old glass plates which I think record a royal visit to Mirfield. I remember that Mirfield Parish Church held at least one garden party on the lawn there in the late 1940's. My Mother was a member of the Mothers Union and my brother and I went along with her. Whilst there we, quite naturally 'explored' the rhodedendron gardens and Black Dick's tower.

Present day photos
Does anybody fancy having ago at updating the present day photos?
The ones on the site at the moment are already becoming a bit historic themselves plus I have a lot more photos from the past that are going to need some present day photos taking too.
There is a bit of knack to taking them but you don't need a fancy camera or anything, it's really a two person job though because many of the pictures are taken from the middle of the road so having someone to watch out for the traffic is a must.
If anybody fancies a crack at it drop me a email and we will work out where to start!
