I am trying to find out information about my granparents farm. (Lily & ernest Mellor). It was up Sunnybank Rd,I think before Crossley lane. It was demolished to build houses,I think 1950--1960s. Does anyone have any pictures?Difficult for me to research myself as I live in Switzerland.

Some of my Banks ancestors lived in Mirfield from about 1670-1759.One was John Banks, miller of Fold Head. I gather this was in the hamlet of Easthorpe. But what was Fold Head? An area? A house? I'd love to know.

I spent the first 9 years of my life in a house at the side of the Three Nuns - seen in Old Pictures Number 47. The house was demolished in the 1960s and was supposed to have been built in the 1600s.There was another house nearer to the Three Nuns and between the two was a 'barn'. There were metal fittings in the floor, does anyone know anything about these buildings, their use etc or anywhere where I might get this information.

I am a keen genealogist as well as an author researching info for my latest book which is inspired by the life of an ancestor who lived for a short while in Mirfield. He was living there in the 1891 census as a block cutter in a woollen printing mill. Before and after this date he was living in the rossendale valley in the same occupation. I wondered if anyone could tell me anything about Stocksbank where he lived at that time, or about the mill where he could have worked, or even point me in the right direction! I would be grateful for any info you might have. The website is excellent! Thanks Anne
