the Queens Jubilee in 2002. Looking on the ordnance survey map of the late 1800's you find Hopton was made up of a number of small groups of dwellings, often centered around various farms or other
places of employment. For example, Jackroyd, Mount Pleasant, Daisy Hill, Hopton Fold, Clough, Snowdrop Hill, Upper House & Hollin Hall to name just a few. Some of these are still familiar
today, while others have slipped away into history. Notice that at this time there was no split between Upper & Lower.
